Throughout my life, I’ve had a complicated relationship with food. I started dieting in seventh grade. That’s also when the fluctuation of my weight began. A few years ago, I started suffering severe back pain and progressive loss of flexibility and movement. I felt helpless and hopeless. Then, I met two professionals, a registered dietician and a traditional Chinese medical practitioner, who changed my life. They helped me empower myself to make the changes I needed to make in order to get better.
As each person is different, so is the path they need to take in order to live a healthier life. A large part of my recovery concerned my diet and health lifestyle. I stopped “dieting” and I feel better now than I ever have. Experiencing this success inspired me to help others.
I received my certification as a Nutrition and Wellness Consultant from American Fitness Professionals and Associates. This program included studying not only nutritional information, but also behavioral strategies that aid in making lifestyle changes.
I received my certification as a yoga teacher at Synergy Yoga Studio, an affiliate of the Himalayan Institute. This 200-hour course is taught in the 5000-year-old Himalayan tradition. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.
Through my life experiences and the knowledge gained through my certifications and training, I consider myself a “wellness facilitator.” I can help you figure out the best way for you to better your health and well-being, be it through diet, exercise, support, behavior modification strategies, or working with other health professionals – whatever you need.
Wellness is not a destination that you reach and leave. It is the combination of daily healthful decisions and actions that results in a state of general wellbeing. With Getting There, there is no judgment. There are no gimmicks or required supplements. Together, we will define the changes you want to make and help you to find YOUR path to wellness.
